Friday, July 8, I published Education?, the story of Casey and the air conditioner. If you missed it, it’s worth the read. Casey himself commented on the blog, and his words make an excellent illustration of yesterday’s Put on… blog from Colossians 3.12 – 17. Specifically,
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3.12, NIV)
What might that look like? Here is Casey’s own description of his philosophy of life:
Thank you for your kind words, and I’m just glad I was able to help someone in need. It brings me joy to be able to help my family. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have much to offer them except the lessons I’ve learned from others and pay it forward. If you don’t share your talents and abilities at times without worrying about what you’re going to get out of it what good is it really? But I will say I got an awesome breakfast out of it! – Casey Gifford
Sounds like compassion, kindness, humility, and gentleness to me!
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. (Philippians 4.9, NIV)
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (1 Timothy 4.12, NIV)
