I wrote yesterday<\/a> that Matthew Kelly\u2019s observation on why people don\u2019t read the Bible is that they believe that the Bible will transform them, but they don\u2019t want transformation. It occurred to me while reading The Passion Translation of Psalm 23 that we often think of transformation as negative when it\u2019s really positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love.\u00a0His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.\u00a0That\u2019s where he restores and revives my life.\u00a0He opens before me pathways to God\u2019s pleasure\u00a0and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness\u00a0so that I can bring honor to his name. (Psalm 23.2, 3)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isn\u2019t restoring and reviving a form of transformation? And who wouldn\u2019t want that? It\u2019s to our advantage to be transformed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O that my people would once and for all listen to me\u00a0and walk faithfully in my footsteps, following my ways.\u00a0Then and only then will I conquer your every foe\u00a0and tell every one of them, \u2018You must go!\u2019…But I will feed you with my spiritual bread.\u00a0You will feast and be satisfied with me,\u00a0feeding on my revelation-truth like honey\u00a0dripping from the cliffs of the high place.\u201d (Psalm 81.13 – 16, Passion Translation)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And God\u2019s primary method of positive transformation is his Word!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The law of the Lord is perfect,\u00a0reviving the soul;\u00a0the testimony of the Lord is sure,\u00a0making wise the simple;\u00a0the precepts of the Lord are right,\u00a0rejoicing the heart;\u00a0the commandment of the Lord is pure,\u00a0enlightening the eyes.
