Crane, quoting Tim Sanders in&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/One-Number-Budget-Traditional-Budgets-About-ebook\/dp\/B0B89JC7PR\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3B39ORQQDP0IL&amp;keywords=The+One+Number+Budget&amp;qid=1691206269&amp;sprefix=the+one+number+budget%2Caps%2C335&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">The One-Number Budget<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you think &#8220;application&#8221; of scripture, what comes to mind? Maybe&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=3147\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">10 Commandments<\/a>, especially the last five:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don&#8217;t take your neighbor&#8217;s life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t take your neighbor&#8217;s wife<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t take your neighbor&#8217;s stuff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t lie<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t covet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The spiritual disciplines like <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/16Uop8W6OZJaNx8qE_XVKfp-6kZT3vcQw\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Time with God<\/a> that I talk about from time to time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God.&#8221; (Micah 6.8)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those are all good things to do. But is that all? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was struck by this paragraph from Jesus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, this will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. (John 14.12 &#8211; 14, LSB)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very powerful words\u2026linked to works. Do I believe? Where are the greater works?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;entertainment&#8221; quote was in the context of money management, and how to save enough for retirement. It&#8217;s not enough to know, you have to act! Makes sense. What are some actions with respect to money?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don&#8217;t steal it (8th commandment) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earn it and give some away (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians+4%3A28&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ephesians 4.28<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put it into a savings account to earn interest (the minimum form of obedience in the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+25%3A14-30&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\">parable of the talents<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intentionally invest significant amounts for the future<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Risk it to start a business so it can be doubled or more (the commended behavior in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+25%3A14-30&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parable of the talents<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With respect to the Kingdom, I think most of us are content with the lower (easier) forms of obedience. Don&#8217;t do bad stuff. Try to do a little good stuff. But do I really believe Jesus wants me to do &#8220;greater works&#8221; than he did? Do I live as if I believe &#8220;If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it&#8221;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=2667\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">William Carey<\/a>, pioneer missionary to India said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Expect great things from God! Attempt great things for God!<\/em>&nbsp;-William Carey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.
