Yesterday<\/a>, we saw Paul talking about our sufficiency<\/em> in Christ. He follows immediately with a meditation on glory<\/em>. [Caution: Paul has a lot of “stream of consciousness” communication in 2 Corinthians!]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such<\/em> glory<\/em> <\/strong>that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its<\/em> glory<\/em><\/strong>, which was being brought to an end, will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more<\/em> glory<\/em><\/strong>? For if there was<\/em> glory<\/em><\/strong> in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in<\/em> glory<\/em><\/strong>. Indeed, in this case, what once had <\/em>glory <\/em><\/strong>has come to have no<\/em> glory <\/em><\/strong>at all, because of the <\/em>glory <\/em><\/strong>that surpasses it. For if what was being brought to an end came with<\/em> glory<\/em><\/strong>, much more will what is permanent have<\/em> glory\u2026<\/em><\/strong>Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the<\/em> glory <\/em><\/strong>of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of<\/em> glory<\/em><\/strong> to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3.7 – 11, 17, 18, ESV, emphasis mine)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re not just sufficient<\/em>, we\u2019re participating in a ministry of glory<\/em>! \u201cSufficient\u201d is good – recall Ian Thomas\u2019 story<\/a> about the Rolls Royce. Will it go up the mountain OK? The Rolls Royce people said: \u201cIt\u2019s adequate.\u201d Paul wraps it up:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since we have such a hope, we are very bold. (2 Corinthians 3.12, ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
