{"id":3019,"date":"2021-02-22T17:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-23T00:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=3019"},"modified":"2021-02-16T18:34:53","modified_gmt":"2021-02-17T01:34:53","slug":"whats-our-focus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=3019","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s Our Focus?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My friend Jim Singleton, while he was in the process of helping lead the formation of the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians (<a href=\"https:\/\/eco-pres.org\/\">ECO<\/a>) in response to increasing issues with the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), told me something like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Some churches and individuals now clamoring for the new denomination and separation from the PCUSA are not going to know what to do when ECO is formed. ECO will be expecting churches to be making disciples and living out Kingdom principles in their neighborhoods. Some churches have defined themselves by what they are against. They\u2019ve made a career out of fighting the PCUSA. Now what are they going to do?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m beginning to ask the same kind of question for a post-COVID world. Are we going to find something to talk about besides:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Have you been vaccinated yet?<\/li><li>When will government loosen up and reopen the economy?&nbsp;<\/li><li>When will you go back to church?<\/li><li>Etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It seems that a lot our conversations are revolving around COVID. I get it, but I\u2019m hoping we haven\u2019t forgotten how to focus on other important things as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, \u2018What will we eat?\u2019 or \u2018What will we drink?\u2019 or \u2018What will we wear?\u2019 For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn\u2019t your heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require? <\/em><strong><em>So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God\u2019s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him.<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em><em>Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.
