Save yourself and us!\u201d But the other criminal rebuked him. \u201cDon&#8217;t you fear God,\u201d he said, \u201csince you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.\u201dThen he said, \u201cJesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.\u201dJesus answered him, \u201cTruly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.\u201d (Luke 23.39 &#8211; 43, NIV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cRemember me when you come into your kingdom.\u201d<\/em> That required a lot of faith. That a man dying on a cross would be coming into a kingdom. And that a criminal dying on a cross would be able to come into it with him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The criminal believed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the true identity of Jesus<\/li><li>In life after death<\/li><li>That his <a href=\"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=1932\">performance<\/a> (or lack of it) had nothing to do with his eligibility for Jesus\u2019 kingdom<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The criminal&#8217;s faith is a bright spot in this sordid tale of Jesus&#8217; execution, and it&#8217;s recorded only by Luke. As I write, I&#8217;m reminded of flowers we had in the front yard of another house in Colorado. They often would bloom before the last spring snowfall, and you&#8217;d see something like this picture. Flowers in the snow. The promise of spring in what appears to be winter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"316\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/drbobewell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-8.png?resize=474%2C316&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1966\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/drbobewell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-8.png?w=629&amp;ssl=1 629w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/drbobewell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-8.png?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption><em>Flowers pushing up through snow<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even as he dies, Jesus imparts life&#8230;to a criminal! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
