We are still at The Navigators\u2019 2:7 Jubilee Conference in Frisco, Texas. It\u2019s been a great time of seeing old friends, making new ones, and celebrating the 50-year anniversary of The Navigators\u2019 disciple-making tool, the 2:7 series<\/a>, sometimes called the In God\u2019s Family series. The original developer, my friend Navigator Ron Oertli who is now in his 80s, is here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday night, Mike Treneer, International President of The Navigators from 2005 – 2015, spoke to us about Missional Living that advances the gospel in a fallen and chaotic world<\/em>. Here\u2019s a highlight: he said something like…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you get discouraged that we\u2019re not farther along? Remember the weeds in the field. \u201cAn enemy has done this…Don\u2019t pull the weeds!\u201d We\u2019re not called to mess with the weeds. God wants us to work on the wheat.\u00a0<\/em>– Mike Treneer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do we get upset about the fallenness and chaos of the world? We should expect that and not get derailed by it. In the meantime, continue with what God has asked us to do: make disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, \u201cMaster, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?\u201d He said to them, \u201cAn enemy has done this.\u201d So the servants said to him, \u201cThen do you want us to go and gather them?\u201d But he said, \u201cNo, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest…\u201d (Matthew 13.27 – 30, ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
