{"id":1646,"date":"2020-01-05T17:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-06T00:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=1646"},"modified":"2020-01-02T09:45:45","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T16:45:45","slug":"one-year-of-blogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drbobewell.com\/?p=1646","title":{"rendered":"One Year of Blogs!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On January 6, 2019, I decided to publish <strong>The Ewellogy<\/strong> <em>daily.<\/em> Today, January 5, 2020, marks the 365th consecutive daily blog. It\u2019s been an interesting journey, and thanks to those of you who have traveled with me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are a few principles and lessons learned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I try to make each blog about something current in my life, something God is speaking to me about <em>today<\/em>,  rather than just resurrecting some teaching point.<\/li><li>To publish daily, I definitely have to not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If I waited and revised until a blog was perfect, I would never publish.<\/li><li>The exercise has made me more observant. Cal Ripken, Jr., the baseball player who now holds the record for the most consecutive games, 2,131, writes about the streak in the first chapter his book <em><a href=\"https:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Just-Show-Up-Enduring-Baseballs\/dp\/0062906747\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1H5KFCPP4U3MZ&amp;keywords=just+show+up+by+cal+ripken+jr&amp;qid=1577982802&amp;sprefix=Just+Show+UP%2Caps%2C190&amp;sr=8-1\">Just Show Up<\/a><\/em>. Among his observations are the following:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Everything you do is a test of how well you do it, not just once or twice, but again and again, after your task has lost its newness or novelty, when it\u2019s just the daily repetition of what needs to be done&#8230;It\u2019s not what you mean to do, it\u2019s what you actually do: it\u2019s actions, not intentions&#8230;Don\u2019t expect to be appreciated, though. That\u2019s not why you pursue a streak. That\u2019s not why you show up. You do it because it\u2019s what you do. It\u2019s your job.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have begun to feel that the daily <strong>Ewellogy<\/strong> is part of my job, and the process of putting what I believe are important messages out there is forming me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Again, thanks for being with me on the journey. Year 2 starts tomorrow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns;<br> the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
