Jesus died for sinners, even me! I read a long time ago that someone, thinking about this passage, wrote, \u201cPaul said, \u2018I am the chief of sinners.\u2019 To which God replied, \u2018O hush. You\u2019re no such thing!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it doesn\u2019t matter whether I win the prize for being the greatest sinner or not. Jesus died for sinners. Last Sunday, our pastor quoted Tim Keller, pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian in New York City:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\u00a0<\/em>gospel<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of my favorite hymns is \u201cIt is well with my soul.\u201d Stanza 3 goes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
