I’m fascinated by the short record of Jesus’ visit to Nazareth as recorded in Mark 6. Here’s how it starts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterward, Jesus left Capernaum and returned with his disciples to Nazareth, his hometown. On the Sabbath, he went to teach in the synagogue. Everyone who heard his teaching was overwhelmed with astonishment. They said among themselves, \u201cWhat incredible wisdom has been given to him! Where did he receive such profound insights? And what mighty miracles flow through his hands! Isn\u2019t this Mary\u2019s son, the carpenter, the brother of Jacob, Joseph, Judah, and Simon? And don\u2019t his sisters all live here in Nazareth?\u201d And they took offense at him. (Mark 6.1 – 3, Passion Translation)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, let’s think just about “What incredible wisdom has been given to him! Where did he receive such profound insights?<\/em>” Answer: Jesus received his wisdom and insights the same way we could: by meditating on the Word and listening for the voice of the Spirit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. (Psalm 119.99, ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
